Helping you gain control of your life!

I’ve been in lawyer’s offices and have seen women walk in with a suitcase of papers and an aura around them of fear–fear of the unknown. It angers me in this day and age because we don’t have to live like that. I’m not saying that the picture will be peaches and cream, but let’s operate from a position of strength and knowledge!

I want to work with the person who is trying to be reasonable and settle their divorce.

My message to you

If you’re thinking about divorce and have no clue what to do, or if you do have a clue and want to get it all together, work with me first. Do you think you’ll get it from your spouse after serving them with divorce papers?

An attorney will give you a form to fill out or they’ll try to do it themselves. And this forms the basis for alimony and child support and ultimately, what you’re going to get out of the marriage in the end. Do you think the attorney knows better than the financial professional?

I know you need an attorney to get a divorce!

It doesn’t mean you have to be powerless. Yes, of course you need an attorney. But why would you go to the attorney without understanding what you’re dealing with financially? Why pay the lawyer, at double or triple the cost, to figure it out instead of the financial professional? Why not go into that office armed with the right information?

Where is it written that you have to go to an attorney first? How about going to your attorney armed with half the picture–what your finances look like, what you’re dealing with. So the attorney can give you his professional opinion as to what you can expect?

Would you hire a colorist to cut your hair? I’m sure the colorist could figure it out, but you want the stylist instead.

I’m a CPA, as well as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), and I’ve worked on some pretty complex divorces and I know what needs to be done in order to get you the results you want!

I want to be the person you come to because you have no clue about the divorce process, you have no idea what is expected of you, or you have a specific issue that you don’t know how to address.

In this day and age, there is no reason not to be informed. I want to be the one to explain the financial situation to you in a manner you can understand.

How is it acceptable to be in a miserable marriage and stay in it because you have no idea as to whether you can make it on your own?

This is your life, gain control of it!

Biography

I began my career at Deloitte & Touche in Manhattan, one of the most prestigious accounting firms in the world, in the Internal Audit Division.  From there, I moved to Salomon Smith Barney.  My experience and financial expertise as a CPA brought me to the Manhattan firm of Alexandra & James, the successor firm to the municipal bond giant Lebenthal, where I handled the full range of financial aspects of divorce and mediation for high-net-worth clients in the top-1% income bracket.

My practice has expanded to include a wider range of clients with varied financial backgrounds. I’m known for providing top-level service coupled with world-class professionalism, and I assist clients and their attorneys with understanding and navigating the myriad financial aspects surrounding separation and divorce.
